Blog

Welcome to our blog

I have been practicing Education and School Law for approximately 12 years – since I first entered private practice.  It is, after all, a natural outgrowth of my focus on juvenile justice.  Many, if not most, of the children involved with Juvenile Court have IEPs, are receiving some kind of special instruction or have a diagnosis such as ADHD that impacts their ability to learn.  Plus, many of the actions that land children in Juvenile Court take place in school so there are the collateral issues of suspension or expulsion hearings and parents frequently ask me to represent their children in those hearings.

Parents and children are surprised at the quantity and quality of rights they enjoy when they actually challenge the school.  Importantly, the challenge need not be frontal; a cooperative approach with the school, using diplomacy, open communication and working towards a solution that is beneficial to all parties will often resolve a heated dispute.

I am looking forward to formally starting this part of my practice.  Having recently been named one of the top 100 trial attorneys in the State of Ohio by The National Trial Lawyers my litigation skills, coupled with my strong negotiation abilities will bring excellent outcomes to my school and education law clients.  It is frequently said that education is the one thing nobody can take away from you and I will ensure your child receives the education he or she needs to excel in the world today.
